Silver       The thing about Silver that first caught my attention was that I could really imagine turning on the radio and hearing their songs”The Searching” or “Lay Me Down”. Their music creates vivid pictures, and for me, brought back memories - even though I’d never heard the songs before. The song “The Second Coming” reminded me of a scene from a movie - something involving a sunny suburban morning, and a run around the block.

Perhaps it’s chemistry. Pat Downing (lead vocals and guitar) and Brent Francese (drums) have known each other since attending high school together in Raleigh, NC. After meeting Brandon Walton (bass) and Ben Davis (guitar and vocals), their music finally started to take shape.

One thing seems unmistakable about Silver’s music - the strong, meaningful lyrics that anyone can relate to, no matter who you are or where you come from.

Aces Over Kings

Aces Over Kings     What do you get when you mix 4 guys from Seattle, Washington with a passion for music? Aces Over Kings. The first Aces Over Kings song I heard was “Homeward Bound” - an upbeat song that sounds like a cross between Blink 182 and The Arctic Monkeys. The next song I heard was “Starting Over” which starts with a strong bass line, and goes into an ‘in the bar, have another beer’ kind of beat.

Aces Over Kings began playing small shows all over Seattle in 2004, and have released two CDs to date - Fight or Flight (2004), and What Doesn’t Kill You.. (2005). They’re planning on another release sometime in late 2007.

With a hectic cross-country US tour starting on March 9th and continuing until mid-May, and an album release later this year, I’m sure there will be many opportunities for Aces Over Kings to be in the club, and to have another beer.

Million Year Sound Wave

MYSW2     Picture being at a house party on a hot summer afternoon, with music playing in the background. Chances are, that the music you’re imagining sounds something like Million Year Sound Wave. ”Bling” starts off with a heavy bass line, cue in the drums, guitar, and lyrics, and you have a recipe for a good rock song.

Lead singer Trip Davis, and drummer Nate Allen have been making music together since early 2004. Million Year Sound Wave didn’t get it’s official start until a night out in Los Angeles introduced them to bassist Corey Naughton. Soon after meeting, the 3 piece decided to jump into the studio and do some recording. Those songs can now be heard on Indie 103.1fm (from L.A.)

I can see this band making it, at the top of the charts - Million Year Sound Wave.
