See You Soon, Tuesday!

By Jacki Spencer • Jul 2008 • Interviews

CUNTAnother rising band joining the Ferret Young Guns tour is See You Next Tuesday. If you haven’t heard the controversy over the band’s nickname, you’re in for a treat! C.U.N.T, in the past three years, has already toured with the scene’s biggest influences and birthed three albums.

After mixing up their lineup a bit and escaping the next to nothing local scene in Bay City, MI, the band has come to what you know and love…or at least know of. Their latest CD had received mixed reviews, but I think you should go on what you know. Read on for the history everyone wants to know about, the coolest tour this summer, and their latest album. Then you can make your own decisions on just how much they rock!

Shout!: Wikipedia pegs you as “experimental deathcore”. What do you think this term means and do you feel it applies to your music?

CUNT: I am guessing it means a band that “experiments” with the genre that is “deathcore”. Which I don’t think we do or are. Honestly, people can call us whatever they want to, we just like playing music and having a good time doing so.

S!: The acronym of the band’s name is a fun play on words. (C. U. N.ext T.uesday) How did you come up with that?

CUNT: Well I wish it was us that actually came up with it, but its more of just a saying that’s been around. The first time I heard it was used on the TV show Sex and the City. Ever since then I have wanted to name a band that.

S!: How has the music scene changed in Bay City, MI since you formed?

CUNT: Well Bay City is a small town of 30,000, so there never really was one here, and honestly there still isn’t really a big scene here.

S!: Your website’s domain name has expired and your MySpace page is now taking its place. Do you feel that a lot of bands depend on MySpace more than any official site?

CUNT: We had a really sweet website, and it’s not that it is expired. The company we were hosting it through basically kicked us off. We got so many hits to our site, it was “hogging resources” from other domains. They actually still owe us some money for time we paid for that they wouldn’t allow us to use. And yes I do.

S!: How is your relationship with Ferret Records and why did you choose to sign with them?

CUNT: Amazing! Couldn’t be happier on any other label. And I guess that kind of explains why we signed with them, just having heard nothing but good things about how they treat their bands.

S!: How did you get involved on the Young Guns tour?

CUNT: Carl from Ferret asked us to do it and we said sure. [Laughs] Kind of a really simple answer.

S!: I hear you’re returning to the studio in July. Is there anything you can tell our readers about that?

CUNT: Be prepared for a something different I guess is the best thing I can say. The songs on Parasite we had been playing for years before we even recorded them, so we have matured musically a lot since then. The newer jams are a lot heavier, grindier, thrashier and all around more sexy.

S!: What have you learned in the studio previously to help prepare you to go back again?

CUNT: That we should spend more of our downtime in the studio at strip clubs. That’s about it.

S!: You’re going overseas in August. What do you hope to accomplish there with your fans?

CUNT: It will be our first time there, so we are most excited just to play for a new crowd. Not to mention, just being in Europe will be exciting.  Hopefully kids over there enjoy a bunch of sweaty dudes running around like jackasses and spitting a lot.

S!: Any last words you’d like to say to our readers?

CUNT: Our merch guy Kooter has the clap. For real. And our new album should be out in October, so buy it or whatever.
